The Centre for Geographic Information Systems (CGIS) under the Ministry of Municipality in collaboration with Mannai InfoTech, a division under the ICT arm of Mannai Trading Company WLL and Esri Inc to mark the annual GIS Technology Day celebrations on May 17, 2023, at the Sheraton Grand Doha.
GIS professionals from public sector organisations, ministries and universities are expected to attend the event which will shed light on the real-world applications of GIS.
On GIS Technology Day, technology companies around the world get together to share the advancement of geospatial science in real-world applications and the impact it is making in various industries and technology domains.
One of the key goals of CGIS is to integrate, collaborate and share GIS knowledge and technology with the community in Qatar. The event will highlight how geospatial technology has made a difference in our world, understand the success stories of GIS in Qatar and explore its growth over the years.
This year the focus of GIS Technology Day is on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sustainability and how GIS technology can cater to it. Experts agree that combining AI with geospatial technology helps to deliver on strategic goals, discover new markets, better understand and serve customers, improve asset management, optimize supply chains, and mitigate risk.
