Mannai Corporation and subsidiaries celebrated the Qatar National Sports Day on February 11, 2025 at the Retaj Salwa Resort & Spa.
Marking the National Sports Day, which seeks to embed sporting values into Qatar’s culture and inspire the population to participate in sports, over 1,500 Mannai staff members joined in the fun filled sports celebration, competing in a wide range of team sports, including football, volleyball, team relay races, obstacle courses, tug-of-war fest, kabaddi tag battle and much more.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Khalid Mannai, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee, Mannai Corporation, stressed on the significance of National Sport Day, saying, “On this day in which the nation comes together to celebrate health and fitness, It’s wonderful to see everyone come together today to join the games. Beyond the fun, it’s a special chance for us to build stronger connections with our colleagues outside the office environment.”
Mr. Alekh Grewal, Group Chief Executive Officer, on the other hand, highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle stating that “With the country offering unparalleled professional training facilities, sporting infrastructure, and celebrating local culture where sport is deeply ingrained, Mannai will continue to promote and support an intercompany culture of teamwork and wellness through harnessing passion for sport with driving positive change.”
Prior to the sports day event, a series of internal competitions were held within the Mannai Group of companies. Employees from different departments and divisions engaged on a variety of sports discipline including football, cricket, bowling, badminton, padel, chess, table tennis, billiards, basketball, and volleyball. These tournaments took place across seven different locations including Mannai Recreation Center at St. 34.
In recognition of their service, the event also included a special ceremony honoring long-serving employees who have dedicated 25 years to Mannai. The service awards were given to the honorees in the presence of Mr. Khalid Mannai, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee, Mr. Alekh Grewal Group Chief Executive Officer; and Mr. Emad Zaid, Senior General Manager-HR & Admin.
The management recognized the service awardees’ exceptional efforts, valuing their contributions as a cornerstone of Mannai’s continued success.
