Transformer Oil Expert
Job Description:
- To report to the Laboratory Operations Manager/ Technical Leader on day to day activities.
- To identify and to provide training to the subordinates.
- To identify the oil laboratory staff requirements.
- Identify and update technology used in tests and sample preparation.
- Clarify the technical queries of clients.
- To check effectiveness of the training provided to the employees.
- To identify the minimum stock requirements of the consumables and to prepare requisition. Also to ensure that the same is maintained throughout the process.
- To ensure effective implementation of ISO/IEC 17025 system.
- Arrange for the calibration of laboratory instruments / coordinate preventive maintenance activities based on instruments calibration / preventive maintenance schedule.
- Report to Technical Leader about purchase request of required instruments spare parts, consumables, standards, chemicals, and reagents that are necessary to run the test as per the approved method.
- Monitor the performance of Laboratory equipment under his area of responsibility, and updates the Control Charts for those instruments, if required.
- Update analysis Work Instructions based on the latest approved and applicable International methods.
- Coordinate operation of test runs, troubleshooting, and issue report of findings.
- Participates in the internal and external audit programs of the laboratory.
- Serve as a referee for non-conformance, investigate, and resolve the sources of non-conformances, and issues corrective action reports.
- Works with the vendors to commission the new laboratory instruments, issues the new instrument commissioning report, and add all required new instrument information to the management system.
- Investigate and troubleshoot out of limit lab instruments, issue repair instruction to instrument technician or service vendor, and put instrument back in operation after repair.
- Train Laboratory technicians on the new instruments, and on any newly implemented analysis procedure.
- To ensure smooth testing of the samples received for testing with the strict adherence to the relevant standard as per the defined sampling schedule.
- Analyze and interpret oil analysis results and trend, and makes technical recommendation to client
- Prepares mitigation plan to address identified risk associated to related processes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Master Degree in Chemistry
- Minimum of 10 Years of experience working in a quality assurance and/or testing laboratory with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role
- Good supervision skills, Knowledge of Laboratory testing matters, Good negotiation skills
Skills Desired:
- Good Management skills,
- Knowledge in Transformer Oil Chemistry/ Analyses
- Knowledge in Transformer Oil Filtration and Regeneration (Reclamation) as per International Standards
- Knowledge in International Standards related to Transformer Oil Interpretations includes IEC, IEEE, CIGRE, ASTM, etc.
- Should be a registered member in CIGRE and/or IEEE
- Knowledge in Lubrication Oil Analysis and Interpretations (International Council for Machinery Lubrication – Level-II Certification is preferred)
- Knowledge in Offline and Online Electrical Testing on High Voltage Systems includes Transformers, Cables, Switch gear, Motors and Generators
